Maxim Afinogenov admitted it was a "great honor" for him to receive the Atlanta Thrashers Fan Club's Player of the Month Award for November. Afinogenov was presented the award prior to the Devils – Thrashers game on December 19 by Fan Club member Nick.

Since joining the team, Afinogenov has been a large part of the team's success, and November was no exception. His award for "electrifying performance" is only fitting, considering Afinogenov tallied 18 points (8 goals, 10 assists) over the Atlanta's 14 games during November, while his speed constantly led to up ice challenges.

Afinogenov's success here should come as no surprise, however. The skilled right-winger has played in 604 career games, totaling 146 goals and 219 assists.

Although it was only the promise of a pro-tryout that brought Afinogenov to Atlanta during summer training camp, the signing that followed has become arguably one of the best offseason moves made by the Thrashers.

Congratulations Max!

Prior to Saturday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Atlanta Thrashers’ center Rich Peverley received his first ever NHL award: October Player of the Month. The award was presented by Atlanta Thrashers Fan Club (ATFC) member Kyle.

Each month, the ATFC gives its members the opportunity to nominate the player they feel has had the biggest impact in the team’s play and success. Peverley received the overwhelming majority of the votes, ultimately leading him to win this month’s title. Considering he recorded a total of 13 points (6 goals, 7 assists) in Atlanta’s ten October games and went pointless in only one of those ten games, it is easy to see why ATFC members awarded Peverley this honor.

After being given the award, Peverley stated how great it is for him and his team to play for a full arena of Atlanta Thrashers’ fans:

“If the crowd is big attendance wise, it’s always been loud in here. We feel that that really helps us; we feed off that energy. Getting wins at home is important to and that’s going to help bring in more fans. I think we’ve been pretty happy so far.”

Since he was claimed off of waivers from the Nashville Predators in early January 2009, Peverley has posted up 59 points (21 goals, 38 assists) in 59 games for the Thrashers, making him one of the largest offensive threats this team has to offer.

Congratulations Rich!
